So pleased you're happy with your decision. I had a lot of fun in the early stages of my PhD - immersing myself in reading and ideas, gathering evidence, doing fieldwork, none of which I regret. But while the writing up is many things, there is very little joy and happiness in it (until you pass). And joy and happiness are a lot more important. Enjoy your freedom - school's out!

When I was struggling with post-grad study my lovely supervisor said something to me that helped a great deal: "Some of the best people I know don't have PhDs..."

You are exceptional in your ability to think deeply and to embrace the rational and the emotional. Not many people can do this and express it so well. It has touched my heart and is helping me consider my own future. Thanks as always Ronnie. Just please keep writing.

Sometimes it takes more guts to end something than carry on.

I've had similar experiences and later wonder if I'd made the right decision. When I think back I always try and remember the real reason why I made the decision and that seems to carry me forward.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy the rest of the summer - I look forward to reading about your walks and observations.

Great song by the way !
